INSPECTOR’S SUMMARY REPORT FOR THE MONTH.
To the Chairman of the Board.
Sir,
I have the honour to submit a Summary Report on the schools and candidates examined during the month.
Schools Examined:
Flaxton School ... April 7 ... Present 18 ... Satisfactory.
(Still affected by the protracted harvest.)
Rangiora Boys’ School ... April 8 ... Present 66 ... The Arithmetic and Tables were deficient throughout all the classes. The other subjects and the general order and discipline were very creditable.
Templeton School ... April 12 ... Present 34 ... Satisfactory.
Broadfield School ... April 13 ... Present 39 ... The excellent order, the cleanliness, and the remarkable accuracy of the children in every class were highly commendable. The teacher, educated in Canterbury, bids fair to be one of our most efficient schoolmasters.
Southbridge School ... April 14 ... Present 22 ... Very creditable.
Leeston School ... Same day ... Present 21 ... Not fully examined. The ordinary school work and the Military Drill were very creditable.
Springston School ... April 15 ... Weather unfavourable ... Present 17 ... Satisfactory.
Fernside School ... April 19 ... Present 38 ... Satisfactory.
Gust Valley ... April 20 ... Present 34 ... Satisfactory.
F. Irving passed a satisfactory examination on the 19th inst., as Candidate for the Mastership of the Harewood Road School, as per certificate of the above date.
An intending applicant for the Mastership of the projected School at Halkett was examined on the 26th instant, as per report of that date.
