Six hundred and forty acres, more or less,
situate on run No. 527, in the Waipara District, bounded on the north-westward by the Waikari Valley road; on the south-westward by a line parallel to and eighteen chains fifty links from the north-eastern boundary of section 8198;
on the south-eastward by a line at right angles to the last described boundary line drawn from a point thereon being eighty-three chains from the aforesaid road; and on the north-eastward by a line parallel to the south-west boundary, so as to contain the above quantity, and include quartz reefs: subject nevertheless to the Improvement Pre-emptive Rights on the above run.


PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, entitled “The Canterbury Temporary Mining Reserves Act, 1869,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent of Canterbury, by Proclamation, to temporarily reserve from sale any lands in which he shall have good reason to believe that precious metals exist: Provided that no such reservation shall continue in force beyond the end of the session of the Provincial Council next after the issue of such Proclamation:

Now therefore I, William Rolleston, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, by virtue of the powers enabling me in that behalf, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the lands described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

Six hundred and forty acres, more or less, bounded on the northward by the River Waimak; on the southward by the Kiwi; on the eastward by a line running parallel to and at a distance of about one mile from the Wilberforce branch of the Rakaia; and on the westward by a line parallel to the eastern boundary, so as to contain the above quantity, and include quartz reefs.


PUBLIC NOTICE.

HEREBY GIVE NOTICE, pursuant to Clause VI. of “The Canterbury Waste Lands Act, 1866,” that an application has been lodged in the Land Office, Christchurch, by the Bank of New South Wales, as holders of Pasturage License No. 490, Class 3, to have the said License cancelled, and in lieu thereof two separate Licenses issued by the Waste Lands Board, one of which shall be in the name of “The Canterbury and Otago Association, Limited,” and the other in the name of “The Bank of New South Wales,” and which together shall comprise the land hitherto held under the above mentioned license, as set forth on plan attached to said application.

If any person can show cause why the above application should not be granted, the same must be made known to the Waste Lands Board before the 14th day of February, 1870.
