PROCLAMATION

By His Honor William Rolleston, Esq.,
Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, establishing a Public Pound at Papanui, in the Avon Road District.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the
Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury, entitled
“The Trespass of Cattle Ordinance, Session XIV., No. 1,” it is enacted that it shall be
lawful for the Superintendent to cause
Public Pounds to be erected and maintained within the said Province:

Now therefore I, William Rolleston,
Superintendent of the said Province, in
pursuance of the provisions of the above recited Ordinance, and of all other powers
enabling me in that behalf, do hereby
proclaim and declare that the place or
enclosure erected upon rural section No. 5
on the map of the Chief Surveyor of the
Province of Canterbury, and being the
western half of the stockyard, as well as the
enclosure at the back of the stable attached
to the Sawyer’s Arms Inn, Papanui, shall
be deemed and taken to be a Public Pound
within the meaning of the above recited
Ordinance from and after Thursday, the
Thirteenth day of May, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine.

Given under my hand at Christchurch
this Twenty-ninth day of April, One
thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine.

His Honor the Superintendent directs it
to be notified that he has appointed

JOSEPH FANTHAM

to be Poundkeeper for the Papanui Pound.

CHRISTCHURCH CITY COUNCIL.

HEREBY give notice that George H.
Wilson has resigned his appointment
of Chief Fire Inspector for the City of
Christchurch, and that the same has been
accepted by me.
