PROCLAMATION,

By His Honor, William Sefton Moorhouse, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, establishing a Public Pound in the Township of Leithfield.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury, entitled, “The Trespass of Cattle Ordinance, Session XIV., No. 1,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent to cause Public Pounds to be erected and maintained within the said Province.

NOW THEREFORE, I, William Sefton Moorhouse, Superintendent of the said Province, in pursuance of the provisions of the above recited Ordinance, and of all other powers enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the place or enclosure erected upon Section No. 49, in the Township of Leithfield, as set out and described on the maps of the Chief Surveyor, shall be deemed and taken to be a Public Pound, within the meaning of the above recited Ordinance, from and after Monday, the Tenth day of February, One thousand, eight hundred, and sixty eight.

Given under my hand, at Christchurch, this Twenty-fourth day of January, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight.

to be the Auditor of all Road Board Accounts, under the Fourteenth Section of “The Roads Ordinance, 1864.”

The appointment to date from the 27th March, 1867.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has granted a Conditional License to Andrew Melville Arklie to sell wine, ale, or beer, at a house in the Lincoln district, to be known as “The Perthshire Arms.”
