PROCLAMATION

By His Honor WILLIAM MONTGOMERY, Esquire, Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, establishing a Public Pound at Oxford.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury, entitled “The Trespass of Cattle Ordinance, Session XIV, No. 1,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent to cause Public Pounds to be erected and maintained within the said Province:

Now therefore, I, William Montgomery, Deputy-Superintendent of the said Province, in pursuance of the provisions of the above recited Ordinance, and of all other powers enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the place or enclosure erected upon part of Reserve numbered 359 (in red), containing by admeasurement one rood and thirty-two perches (more or less), fronting upon the road forming the western boundary of that Reserve, a distance of one chain and fifty links, and extending easterly in a rectangular block, a distance of three chains south of and adjoining Cemetery Reserve numbered 162 (in red), shall be deemed and taken to be a Public Pound within the meaning of the above recited Ordinance, from and after the Third day of August next.

Given under my hand at Christchurch, this Twenty-third day of July, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight.
