The mean temperature of the month was slightly below the average, or 47°.9 compared to 48°.5, as was also the rainfall, which was 2.139 inches on eight days against 2.378 inches also on eight days. The decrease of mean temperature on the previous month was 6°.7. The exposed thermometer on grass fell below 32° on eighteen nights, the greatest cold registered being 15°.6 on the night of the 30th. Extreme range of temperature in the shade, 42°.8, or from 72°.3 on the 20th—a remarkably warm day for the time of the year—to 29°.5 on the 30th. Greatest range of temperature in the shade, in twenty-four hours, 30°.5 on the 1st; least range, 4°.9 on the 8th. Range of barometer .934 inches, or from 30.354 to 29.420. The only high wind during the month blew on the morning of the 16th from N.W.

Weather very unsettled during the month; seldom more than two days fine together, but without any heavy rainfalls, except on the 7th, 19th, and 20th. Rain fell altogether on fifteen days, equal to 6.93 inches, against 5.82 inches on eleven days, the average for the month in the last two years; greatest fall, 1.38 inches on the 20th. There was a gale from N. and N.W. on the 1st, with rain; and a thunderstorm on the night of the 30th. Frequent fogs occurred in the mornings or evenings, especially about the middle of the month. Mean humidity was very high, namely, 94, compared to 83 in Christchurch—complete saturation being represented by 100. The range of temperature in the shade, 27°.6, or from 59°.8 to 32°.2, was much less than at the eastern station, where it was 42°.8; but the mean temperature of the atmosphere, 48°.4, was only 0.5 higher. Amount of evaporation, 0.02 inches. Mean direction of the wind, S.E.

BEALEY.
Weather cold and wet during the greater part of the month, the finest portion being from the 10th to the 17th. A very heavy fall of rain occurred on the 1st, equal to 8.05 inches; also a thunderstorm, and a gale of wind from N.W. There was another gale from the same quarter on the 19th, and thunderstorms on the 20th and 30th. Snow fell on the 7th and 23rd, but not in any great quantity. Rain fell altogether on seventeen days, equal to 10.697 inches, the heaviest falls being on the 1st as above, and 2.050 and 1.369 inches on the 19th and 30th respectively. Fog prevailed on the 9th. The mean temperature of the month was 44°.2, or 4°.2 below Christchurch. Total range of temperature in shade, 37°.5, or from 63°.0 to 27°.5. Exposed thermometer on grass fell below freezing point every night in the month except the 19th; the greatest cold registered being 11°.0 on the 27th. Mean direction of wind, N.W. Rainfall from January 1st to May 31st, 47.44 inches on 82 days.

DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Partnership hitherto existing between the undersigned, James Hay and Thomas Orr Hay, as representatives of Ebenezer Hay, deceased, and John Hay, at Lake Takapo, in the Province of Canterbury, as Stock Farmers, under the Firm of E. and J. Hay, was DISSOLVED by MUTUAL CONSENT, as from the Eighth day of April, 1867.
All Debts due to the late Firm must be paid to the said John Hay, whose receipts will be a sufficient discharge for the same, and who will satisfy all liabilities of the late Firm.
Dated at Christchurch, in the Province aforesaid, this Fourth day of May, 1868.
