PROCLAMATION

By his Honor WILLIAM ROLLESTON, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury.

WHEREAS, a Writ was issued by the Governor of New Zealand to William Donald, Esquire, Principal Returning Officer for the Electoral District of the Province of Canterbury, requiring and commanding him to cause to be elected, by the Voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, a legally qualified Person to serve as Superintendent for the said Province of Canterbury: And whereas the said Principal Returning Officer did, upon this Twenty-second day of May, 1868, at a Meeting fixed and notified by him for the Nomination of a Person to serve as such Superintendent, at the Town Hall, Christchurch, openly declare and publicly notify that I, WILLIAM ROLLESTON, was duly elected Superintendent of the said Province:

Now, therefore, I do hereby proclaim and declare that I have assumed the Office of Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury accordingly.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Canterbury, at Christchurch, this Twenty-second day of May, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight.
