PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the office of Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury has become vacant by reason of the acceptance by His Excellency the Governor of the resignation of William Sefton Moorhouse, Esquire; and whereas J. Francis Edward Stewart, was, on the Seventh day of August, 1867, duly appointed under the provisions of “The Superintendents’ Deputy Act, 1866,” to be the Deputy Superintendent of the said Province:
Now therefore I, the said Francis Edward Stewart, do hereby proclaim and declare that, by virtue of the aforesaid appointment, and of all other powers enabling me in that behalf, I have assumed the office of Deputy-Superintendent of the said Province, to hold the same until an election of a Superintendent to fill the vacant office shall have taken place.
Given under my hand at Christchurch, this Fifteenth day of May, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight.

PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, passed in the Twenty-second year of the Reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, entitled “The Provincial Reserved Bills Act, 1858,” it was enacted that whenever any Bill shall have been passed by the Provincial Council of any Province, and shall have been reserved by the Superintendent for the signification of the Governor’s pleasure thereon, such Bill shall not have any force or authority within the said Province until the Superintendent shall signify, either by Speech or Message to the Provincial Council, or by Proclamation in the Government Gazette of the said Province, that such Bill has been laid before the Governor, and that the Governor has assented to the same:
And whereas a Bill, entitled “The Executive Council Ordinance Amendment Ordinance, 1864,” was passed by the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury, and the same was reserved by the Superintendent for the assent of His Excellency the Governor.
Now, therefore, I, Francis Edward Stewart, Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury aforesaid, do hereby
