It will be seen from the Tabular Summary of Quarterly Returns that, during the quarter, the number of attendants has been 2482, an increase of 859 upon the corresponding quarter of 1866; the average daily attendance 1494, an increase of 69; the school fees Β£824 4s. 11d., an increase of Β£48 3s. 9d.

It will be seen from the Schedule as to the efficiency of the schools, that the number examined during the quarter has been 28, including 1137 children. Several schools not examined, were visited for the purpose of taking the preliminary examination of the Candidates, for Junior Scholarships, and on other occasions.
