Any Goods, Merchandize, or Luggage arriving at any Station other than the Christchurch Terminus, which shall not be removed from the Railway premises within twelve working hours, may be forwarded to Christchurch at the expense of the Consignee or Owner, and there stored at his risk and expense, and the same will then become subject to the charges mentioned or referred to in Section 18.

All Goods shall be forwarded within twenty-four working hours after arrival at any Railway Station or discharge into any trucks upon any wharf belonging to the Railway.

Every Vessel shall be removed by the Master thereof from the Railway Wharf immediately after written notice shall have been left on board by the person in charge of the Wharf requiring the removal of such Vessel, and any Master failing to remove his Vessel within the period aforesaid, shall be liable to a penalty of Twenty Pounds per day, for every day or fractional part of a day thereafter during which such Vessel may occupy a berth at the said Wharf.

The Master of any vessel arriving at any Wharf connected with the Railway, shall cause the discharge or loading thereof to be commenced and continued till completed at such hours as the person in charge of such Wharf shall direct, irrespective of any custom to the contrary.

In the event of any Vessel loading or discharging at any Wharf where steam power is used, not having sufficient hands on board to keep such steam cranes or other steam power working at fair and reasonable speed, it shall be competent for the person in charge of the Wharf to employ such a number of additional hands as will keep the cranes, &c., going, and charge the same to the Master of such Vessel, which charge must be paid before clearance or receipt is given for cargo.

The Masters of all Vessels are held accountable for the proper slinging of all goods, and are responsible for any damage that may occur, either from breakage of slings, or from the goods being improperly slung.

The Railway will not be answerable or accountable for any damage to goods or, merchandise, nor for leakage, breakage, or rust, unless the same shall happen through the negligence of their Servants, nor in respect of any goods which shall have been improperly packed or addressed, nor for plate, china, glass, pictures, wearing apparel, or other valuables, whether of a like nature or otherwise, unless specially entered and paid for as valuable or hazardous goods.

No Claim for Loss will be allowed or recognised unless the particulars of such claim be lodged with the Station Master at Christchurch within seven days after such loss shall have arisen, and no claim for damage will be allowed or recognised after the removal from the Railway premises of the goods or merchandize alleged to have been damaged.

The Railway will not be responsible for any parcel above the value of Ten Pounds, unless the value be declared at time of booking the same.
GENERAL.
- The Speed at which Carriages shall be propelled on the Railway shall not exceed the rate of Fifty Miles per Hour.

PROCLAMATION
By His Honor William Sefton Moorhouse, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, fixing Tolls, Fares, and Charges for Railways.
I, William Sefton Moorhouse, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, in pursuance of the powers vested in me in that behalf, do hereby, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, fix the following Schedules of Tolls, Fares, and Charges to be levied and charged for the use of the Railways of the said Province :
