THE following Statistics, referring to Cultivation and Crops in the Northern District of the Province, collected and compiled by the Northern Agricultural and Pastoral Association, are published for general information.

DESCRIPTION OF THE DISTRICTS.

The NORTHERN DISTRICT consists of all that portion of the Province situated to the North of the River Waimakariri.

The SUB-DISTRICTS are as follows:—

1.—The KAIPOI ISLAND, situated between the North and South Branches of the Waimakariri.

2.—The RANGIORA and EYRE Swamps.

3.—The MOERAKI DOWNS, North and South.

4.—EYRETON, comprising the Farms immediately around the Village of that name.

5.—The NATIVE RESERVE at Kaiapoi.

6.—KAIPOI, WOODEND, and RANGIORA, comprising all the Mandeville and Rangiora Districts not included in the foregoing divisions.

7.—The PLAINS, comprising that portion of the Plains, including Oxford, traversed by the Cust and the Eyre, and not included in the foregoing divisions.

8.—The ASHLEY DISTRICT, situated between the Ashley and the Kowai, and East of the Makeriri River.

9.—HAUGHTON VALLEY, lying between the Ashley and the Makeriri.

10.—The WAIPARA DISTRICT, being all that portion of the Northern District situated North of the Kowai.
