PROCLAMATION

By His Honor William Sefton Moorhouse, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury.

WHEREAS, by an Act bearing date the Eighth day of October, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-six, passed by the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the consent of the General Assembly, entitled “An Act to provide for the performance of the duties of Superintendents of Provinces in New Zealand during absence, and during vacancies in the office,” it is enacted, inter alia, that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent of any Province, by Proclamation to be published in the Government Gazette of such Province, to appoint such person as he may think fit, being a registered elector of such Province, to be his Deputy:

Now, therefore, I, William Sefton Moorhouse, the Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, in the said Colony, in pursuance of the power and authority in me vested, do hereby appoint Francis Edward Stewart, Esq., being a registered elector of the said Province, to be Deputy Superintendent.

Given under my hand, and sealed, with the Public Seal of the said Province, this Seventh day of August, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven.

HIS Honor the Deputy Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has appointed Constable JAMES BURTENSHAW to be Inspector of Slaughter-houses for the Timaru District, vice Constable James Fitzgerald, resigned.
