HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has appointed the following persons to be Inspectors of Slaughter-houses; viz.—
Constable MÖLLER for the Greymouth District, vice Constable O’Callaghan, transferred.
Sergeant BYRNE for the Hokitika District, vice Sergeant White, transferred.
Constable HORNIMAN for the Christchurch District, vice Sergeant Barry, resigned.
Sergeant BARLOW for the Leithfield District.

CHRISTCHURCH CITY COUNCIL.
BYE-LAW, No. 3.
BYE-LAW for regulating the driving of Cattle within the City of Christchurch:—
Excepting in the cases hereinafter specified, no Cattle shall be driven within the City of Christchurch between the hours of nine o’clock A.M. and five o’clock P.M.
Oxen in yoke may be so driven within the said hours.
Cattle found trespassing within the City may be driven to Pound between the said hours.
Every person driving, assisting to drive, or causing to be driven, any Cattle in contravention of this Bye-Law, shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding the sum of Ten Shillings per head for every head of Cattle so driven.
The Town Belt shall not be considered to be within the City of Christchurch for the purposes of this Bye-Law.
The word “Cattle” shall, for the purposes of this Bye-Law, be deemed to include all horned and neat Cattle of all ages and of either sex, and to apply to one of any such animals driven alone as well as to a mob or herd.
Made by the Council at a Meeting held on the 22nd October, 1866.
