IMMIGRATION COMMISSION.
Ship “Blue Jacket”
The Commissioners report, that upon visiting the Ship “Blue Jacket” they saw every reason to be satisfied with the appearance of the Immigrants generally, and the cleanliness and order manifest in all the compartments.
No illness of any kind had occurred during the passage; and the Immigrants were unanimous in expressing their gratitude to the Captain, Surgeon, and other officers of the ship, for the care and kindness they had experienced throughout the voyage.
The Commissioners are happy to be able to report that a very efficient Matron had been appointed, who fulfilled her duties in a very satisfactory manner, and is spoken of by the females under her charge as having shown them great kindness and attention on all occasions.
The Hospitals are a great improvement upon many that have been noticed in previous arrivals.
The distilling apparatus (Normandy’s) had acted well throughout the voyage.
The provisions of all kinds had given satisfaction, with the exception of one brand of preserved meat (Hector’s), nearly all of which was condemned in the course of the voyage.
