PROCLAMATION
By His Honor SAMUEL BEALEY, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, establishing a Public Pound in the Township of Leeston.
WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury, entitled “The Trespass of Cattle Ordinance, Session XIV, No. 1,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent to cause Public Pounds to be erected and maintained within the said Province :
Now, therefore, I, SAMUEL BEALEY, Superintendent of the said Province, in pursuance of the provisions of the above-recited Ordinance, and of all other powers enabling me on that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the place or enclosure erected upon section No. 26 in the township of Leeston, as set out and described on the maps of the Chief Surveyor, shall be deemed and taken to be a Public Pound within the meaning of the above-recited Ordinance, from and after the First day of June, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-six.
Given under my hand at Christchurch, this Eleventh day of May, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-six.

One thousand eight hundred and sixty-six, and published in the Provincial Gazette of the said Province on the Thirteenth day of the said month of March, by striking out the words “Colony of New Zealand” wherever they occur in the Regulations contained in the said Proclamations, and by substituting in lieu thereof the words “Province of Canterbury;” and doth hereby so far, and so far only, revoke the delegation of the powers which, by the fourth section of the said Amendment Act, the Governor in Council is authorised to delegate, and which were, by Order in Council referred to in the New Zealand Gazette of the Twenty-fifth of November, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-five, delegated to the said Superintendent, and doth declare that this Order in Council shall take effect from and after the Second day of May, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-six.
