BOARD OF EDUCATION.
INSPECTOR’S SUMMARY REPORT FOR THE MONTH,
(March 31—April 27, 1865.)
To the Honorable H. J. Tancred,
Chairman.
Sir,—I have the honor, in obedience to your instructions, to submit a summary Report of the schools examined, and other business transacted during the month.
Eight schools, including 224 children, have been examined.
Sixteen schools have benefited by supplies from the Educational Depôt, to the amount of £36 19s. 10d.
Of the Schools Examined:—
These being chiefly in suburban and out-lying districts, have suffered in their attendance from the interruptions occasioned by holidays, and a continuance of autumnal work. There has not been anything worthy either of high commendation, or of special censure. The attention of the teachers has been directed to points in which the schools require improvement.

Sir,—I have the honor, in obedience to your instructions, to submit a summary Report on the schools examined, and other business transacted during the month.
Eight schools, including 336 children, have been examined.
Thirteen schools have been benefited by supplies from the Educational Depôt, to the amount of £26 19s. 10d.

Prebbleton........ " „ 28, „ 6, Not fully at work.
Duvauchelle Bay... " May 3, „ 24, New Teachers.
Akaroa........... " „ 3, „ 39, Much improved.
Kaiapoi Wesleyan.. " „ 8, „ 35, Very satisfactory.
Lyttelton Church.. " „ 16, „ 65, Considerable improvement.
Christchurch Wes... " „ 18, „ 120, Satisfactory.
Papanui Wesleyan.. " „ 19, „ 25, Very moderate.
The examinations of the Governor’s Bay and Rangiora schools were postponed for obvious reasons.

Eleven schools, including 507 children, have been examined.
Seventeen schools have benefited by supplies from the Educational Depôt, to the amount of £16 15s. 10d.

Saltwater Creek....... " 31, „ 19, Fair beginning.
Ashley Bank........... „ 31, „ 14, Satisfactory.
Leithfield............ June 2, „ 31, Improving.
Lyttelton Wesleyan... " 6, „ 35, Falling off.
St. Michael’s......... „ 13 & 14, „ 128, Very satisfactory.
N.B. 1. The number of girls apparently decreasing.
N.B. 2. The glare from the windows injurious to the sight.
St. Andrew’s School... June 15, present 35, Much improved.
St. Luke’s............ „ 16, „ 52, Very creditable.
Papanui Church........ „ 22, „ 67, Very satisfactory.
Rangiora............. „ 23, „ 53, Very satisfactory.
