HIS Honor the Superintendent in accordance with the provisions of "The Municipal Council Ordinance, Sess. XIV, No. 2," directs the publication of the following Petition.

TO HIS HONOR THE SUPERINTENDENT OF
THE PROVINCE OF CANTERBURY, NEW ZEALAND.
The Petition of the undersigned Householders of the Town of HOKITIKA, in the Province of Canterbury.
Humbly showeth,
THAT the Town of Hokitika contains a population of at least two thousand householders, and therefore may lawfully be constituted a Municipal District, subject to the provisions of "The Municipal Council Ordinance" of this Province.
That in the opinion of your petitioners it would conduce to the welfare and advantage of the said town were such town to be constituted a Municipal District.
May it therefore please your Honor to take the matter into consideration, and to declare the said town of Hokitika a Municipal District, by and under the provisions of "The Municipal Council Ordinance, Sess. XIV, No. 2," and "The Municipal Council Ordinance Amendment Ordinance, 1866."
