lamation in the Provincial Government Gazette, should declare the powers of such Board to be suspended, and should by Proclamation appoint a Commissioner for such district, and thereupon all the powers, rights, privileges, and duties of such Board should, from the date of such Proclamation, vest in and be exercised by such Commissioner on behalf of the Board:

And whereas the Road Board for the Rakaia District has neglected to give public notice of a certain annual meeting of the Ratepayers of the said district, as provided in section 40, by which default of the above Board no election of members to serve on the said Board for the ensuing year was effected, as provided in section 4 of the said Ordinance:

Now, therefore, I, SAMUEL BEALEY, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury aforesaid, with the advice of the Executive Council, do hereby proclaim the powers of the said Road Board for the Rakaia District to be suspended; and I appoint Charles John Harper, of Lake Coleridge, to be a Commissioner for the said district.

THE following Reserve is re-gazetted, in consequence of a clerical error in the description as published in the Provincial Government Gazette, No. XV, February 17, 1866:—

No. 205, in red.—Six hundred and forty acres, more or less, situate near Lake Pearson, in the valley of the Upper Waimakariri, commencing at the point where the road to Pearson’s crosses the Craigie Burn, extending along the road south-westerly a distance of forty chains on each side of the road —As an endowment for a classical school, as mentioned in the Resolutions of the Provincial Council of 12th and 19th December, 1865.
