PROCLAMATION.
By His Honor Samuel Bealey, Esq.,
Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, setting apart certain land as a town.
I, SAMUEL BEALEY, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, do hereby, in pursuance of the powers vested in me in that behalf by the 23rd clause of the Regulations for the sale, letting, disposal, and occupation of the Waste Lands of the Crown in the Province of Canterbury, and upon the recommendation of the Provincial Council, proclaim and declare that the undermentioned block of land has been set apart as a site for the town of Greymouth;
that is to say,—
All that piece or parcel of land, containing one thousand acres, more or less, situate at the mouth of the River Grey, commencing at the south-eastern corner of Native Reserve No. 31, thence following a line in a south-westerly direction at an angle of 74 deg. 13 min. with the southern boundary of the before-mentioned reserve a distance of about 122 chains, thence north-westerly at a right angle a distance of about 118 chains to the sea-beach, following the beach to the mouth of the Grey, thence following the southern bank of that river to the north-western corner of the Native Reserve before mentioned, and from thence returning along the western and southern boundaries of that reserve to the commencing point, and numbered 280, on the map of the Chief Surveyor setting out and describing the said town of Greymouth, save and except the Native Reserve No. 32.

NOTICE is hereby given, that in accordance with the 26th clause of the Land Regulations of this Province, the Map of the Town of Hokitika, North, so far as the town is laid out, is open for inspection at the Land Office, at Christchurch, and at the Survey Office, Hokitika.

PROCLAMATION.
By His Honor Samuel Bealey, Esq.,
Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, bringing the Canterbury Police Ordinance into operation in the towns of Hokitika and Greymouth.
WHEREAS, by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury, entitled the "Canterbury Police Ordinance, 1858, Session X., No. 1," it is provided that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent, by proclamation, to declare the said Ordinance to be in operation within any town, upon the requisition to that effect from a majority of the Justices of the Peace of the district in which such town is situated:
Now, therefore, I, Samuel Bealey, Superintendent as aforesaid, do hereby, upon the requisition of the Justices of the Peace of the District of Westland, proclaim and declare that the Canterbury Police Ordinance shall be, and is hereby brought into operation within the town of Hokitika, North; the town of Hokitika, South; and the town of Greymouth, in the said district.
