PROCLAMATION

By His Honor SAMUEL BEALEY, Esq.,
Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, New Zealand.

SAMUEL BEALEY, Superintendent
of the Province of Canterbury, in pursuance of the provisions of an Ordinance,
passed by the Provincial Council, intituled
"The Watercress Ordinance, 1864," do
hereby proclaim and declare that, from and
after the date hereof, the Rivers Heathcote
and Avon, in the Province of Canterbury,
shall be Rivers within the operation of the
said Ordinance.

Given under my hand, at Christchurch,
and issued under the Public Seal of
this Province, this Thirteenth day of
February, One thousand eight hundred
and sixty-five.

to be notified that

CHARLES BOWEN, Esq.,
has resigned his seat in the Provincial
Council as Member for the Avon District.

NOTICE

Marine Board Office,
Wellington, Jan. 27, 1865.

THE Light on Mana Island, Cook’s
Straits, will be exhibited on and after
the 1st of February, 1865. It is a fixed
white light of the second order, dioptric,
erected at the north-west extremity of the
Island, and is elevated about 450 feet above
the sea level. The light will be seen in
clear weather at a distance from 25 to 30
miles.

Christchurch, Jan. 31, 1865.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it
to be notified that he has made the
following Reserves, temporarily, under the
19th clause of the Waste Land Regulations:

viz.—
No. 374, in red.—Three acres two roods,
more or less, situate on the north
bank of the River Teramakau, on the
West Coast of the Province of Canterbury, bounded on the north-east
by Native Reserve No. 27, for a distance of four chains twenty-two links;
on the south-east by the northern
bank of the River Teramakau before
mentioned; and on the south-west
and north-west by the sandy beach.

No. 375, in red.—Forty acres, more or
less, situate on the south bank of the
River Teramakau, on the West Coast
of the Province of Canterbury, being
