THE undermentioned persons having neglected to apply for the License granted to them at the Quarterly Meeting of the Justices of the Peace, held the 4th of July, within the time specified in the 26th clause of "The Public House Ordinance, 1863," viz.:

JOHN SHAND and HENRY COUPE, Shand’s Road,

I hereby give notice that the aforesaid License has been cancelled absolutely by me.

NOTICE is hereby given that the following petitions will be heard in the Supreme Court on Wednesday the Twentieth day of September next, at eleven o’clock in the forenoon, at the Court House, Christchurch :

In the matter of Christopher Percy Soulsby, of Christchurch, in the Province of Canterbury, lately a Clerk to the Waste Lands’ Board of the said Province, but now out of employment.

In the matter of Alfred Porter, formerly of Porter’s Pass, Otarama Station, in the Province of Canterbury, runholder, but now of Kaiapoi, in the province aforesaid, farmer.

In the matter of William Henry Whiting, of the Lincoln Road, in the Province of Canterbury, formerly toll-keeper, but now of the Lincoln Road aforesaid, labourer.

In the matter of Urquhart Macpherson, of Lyttelton, in the Province of Canterbury, New Zealand, merchant, carrying on business in Lyttelton and Christchurch.

IN THE SUPREME COURT OF NEW ZEALAND,
CANTERBURY DISTRICT.

In the matter of The Debtors’ and Creditors’ Act 1852 and in the matter of the petition of Urquhart Macpherson of Lyttelton in the Province of Canterbury, New Zealand, merchant, carrying on business in Lyttelton and Christchurch, a debtor not in custody.

This 11th day of July 1865;

UPON the application of Mr. Bamford of Counsel for the said petitioner Urquhart Macpherson, after reading the said petition purporting to be signed by the said petitioner such debtor as aforesaid and to be concurred in by Alfred Louisson of Christchurch aforesaid, commission agent, a creditor to the extent of not less than fifty pounds sterling in the whole, and also certain schedules and also an affidavit of the said Urquhart Macpherson to the said petition annexed and therefiled the Tenth day of July instant pursuant to the said Act, this Court being satisfied of the truth of the matters contained in the said petition, doth hereby grant an ad interim order of sequestration of the estate and effects of the said Urquhart Macpherson and doth direct that the estate and effects of the said Urquhart Macpherson be taken and held by the said Alfred Louisson as Receiver under the said Act hereby appointed by the Court, subject to such further order of the Court as may be made under or in pursuance of the said Act. And the Court doth hereby appoint Wednesday the Twentieth day of September next at eleven o’clock in the forenoon for the hearing of such Petition and proof of debts and claims of creditors at the Court House, Christchurch aforesaid. And the Court doth also further order and grant an ad interim order of protection to protect the person and estate of the said Urquhart Macpherson from arrest, execution or other legal process until further order of the Court.
