Christchurch, July 6, 1865.
HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has made the following Reserves, temporarily, under the 19th clause of the Waste Land Regulations:
No. 392, in red.—One rood and four perches, in the town of Hokitika, commencing at the junction of Gibson’s Quay and Sewell Street, following a northerly direction along Sewell Street, a distance of one chain sixty-five links; thence easterly, at a right angle, a distance of two chains; thence southerly, at a right angle, a distance of one chain eleven links; and returning along Gibson’s Quay to the commencing point, a distance of two chains five links—for a Post Office, and for general purposes in connection with the postal service.
No. 393, in red.—Three roods and twenty-six perches, in the town of Hokitika, commencing at the junction of Gibson’s Quay and Fitzherbert Street, following a northerly direction along Fitzherbert Street, a distance of two chains eighty links; thence westerly, at a right angle, a distance of two chains ninety-five links; thence southerly, at a right angle, a distance of three chains thirty-nine links; and returning along Gibson’s Quay to the commencing point, a distance of three chains five links—for a Custom House, and for general purposes in connection with the Customs service.
No. 394, in red.—Five hundred and sixty acres, more or less, situate in the Upper Waimakariri District, commencing at a point on the southern bank of the Waimakariri, the same being about 5½ miles distant from and west of the confluence of the said river with the stream forming the eastern boundary of Run No. 333; thence following a straight line, in a southerly direction, a distance of sixty chains; thence westerly, at a right angle, a distance of eighty chains; thence, at a right angle, northerly, a distance of thirty chains; thence again, at a right angle, westerly, a distance of one hundred and sixty chains; thence northerly at a right angle, a distance of ten chains; thence again, at a right angle, easterly, to the bank of the river Waimakariri above mentioned; and from thence, returning along the same, to the commencing point—for the uses of the Provincial Government, and other public purposes.
No. 395, in red.—Ten acres, more or less, situate in the Mandeville District, commencing at the junction of the Oxford and Ohoka Road with the Rangiora and Waimakariri Road; following along the last-mentioned road, in a southerly direction, a distance of eleven chains twenty links; thence, at a right angle, north-westerly, a distance of eighteen chains sixty links to the road first above mentioned; and from thence, returning along the same, to the commencing point—for a gravel-pit.
No. 396, in red.—Forty-two acres, more or less, situate in the Mandeville District, bounded on the northward by the Rangiora Main Drain, on the westward by section 7654, and on the eastward by section 4298—for railway purposes.
No. 397, in red.—Seven hundred and eighty-nine acres, more or less, situate in the Mandeville District, commencing at a point on the Oxford and Ohoka Road, the same being the south-western corner of section 8117, following westerly along the said road to the eastern boundary of section 3816; thence northerly along the eastern boundary line of sections 3816, 4281, and 4372; thence westerly along the northern boundary of the last-mentioned section to the south-eastern corner of section 6254, following northerly along the eastern boundary thereof to J. P. R. D. on Run No. 3; thence easterly, following along the southern boundary line of the said pre-emptive and of 3809, and a line in continuation of the same to the north-western corner of section 5000; thence southerly, along the western boundary of that section, a distance of nine chains ninety links; thence easterly, along the southern boundary line of sections 5000 and 4999, to the north-western corner of the aforesaid section 8117; and from thence, returning along the western boundary thereof, to the commencing point, subject to the road forming the western boundary of section 5000—for railway purposes.
No. 398, in red.—One hundred and sixty-two acres, more or less, situate in the Oxford District, commencing at a point on the road, the same being the north-eastern corner of section 5869, following southerly and westerly along the eastern and southern boundaries of that section to the road forming its western boundary, following southerly along that road a distance of fifty chains; thence easterly, at a right angle, to the north-eastern side of the road separating sections 6251 and 7087, following north-westerly along the last-mentioned road to the western side of the road forming the western boundary of section 4671, following northerly along that road to the road first mentioned, and from thence returning along the same to the commencing point; subject nevertheless to the continuation of the road passing through section 4579, and also to sections 6611, 6375, and 8816—for railway purposes.
