PROCLAMATION
By His Honor SAMUEL BEALEY, Esq.,
Superintendent of the Province of
Canterbury, summoning the Pro-
vincial Council.
I, SAMUEL BEALEY, Superintendent
of the Province of Canterbury, in pur-
suance of the powers vested in me in that
behalf, do hereby summon the Provincial
Council to meet, for the despatch of special
business, at the Council Chamber at Christ-
church, at Two o’clock in the afternoon, on
Tuesday, the Thirtieth day of May, in the
year of our Lord One thousand eight hun-
dred and sixty-five.
Given under my hand, at Christchurch,
this Ninth day of May, One thousand
eight hundred and sixty-five.

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!
PROCLAMATION
By His Honor SAMUEL BEALEY, Esq.,
Superintendent of the Province of
Canterbury, proclaiming Timaru a
Municipal District.
WHEREAS, in accordance with Clause
3 of "The Municipal Council Ordin-
ance, Sess. XIV., No. 2," a petition, from the
residents and householders in Timaru, pray-
ing for the proclamation of the District of
Timaru as a Municipal District was published
in the Provincial Government Gazette of the
1st October, 1864, Vol. XI., No. 40, and
no counter petition has been received since
the date of such publication: Now therefore,
I, Samuel Bealey, Superintendent of the
Province of Canterbury, in pursuance of the
powers vested in me in that behalf, do hereby,
with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said Province, declare the
District of Timaru to be a Municipal Dis-
trict within the meaning of the said Ordin-
ance, and that the boundaries of the said
district shall be as follows, that is to say:—
On the north and east by the sea; on the
south by the north boundary of section
No. 1702, the north side of a road lying
to the north of section No. 2367, the
cemetery reserve, and the north boun-
daries of sections 1706 and 1607; on
the west by the east boundary of section
No. 1606, the east and north boundary
of section No. 707, the east boundary
of section 1652, till it meets Whale’s
Creek to the sea.
Given under my hand, at Christchurch,
this Ninth day of May, One thousand
eight hundred and sixty-five.
