✨ Hackney Carriage Rates and Fares



SCHEDULE F (SECTION 25.)

PART I.—CITY OF CHRISTCHURCH.

TABLE OF RATES AND FARES

To be charged for any Hackney Carriage plying for hire at any place within the said City and within eight miles of the corporate limits thereof.

HACKNEY CARRIAGES
CARRIAGE.
Having 4 wheels and 2 or more horses not plying as an omnibus

FARES BY TIME.

(One or two Adults to be a full Fare.)

By the day i.e. for any 12 consecutive hours between 6 o'clock a.m. and 10 o'clock p.m. for 2 persons
For each additional passenger

By the hour:
For the first hour or less than an hour
For every subsequent half-hour or less

In hiring by the hour (when the passenger is set down at a distance from the place of hiring) time to be reckoned for returning to the place of hiring at the rate of 6 miles an hour from the place of setting down.

FARES BY DISTANCE.

(One or two Adults to be a full Fare.)

In town and 1 mile out.

For any distance within and not exceeding 1 mile, one or two persons
Beyond 1 mile from Town Belt per mile
For every additional person half-fare.
For every half-mile or part thereof exceeding 1 mile an additional charge of one-half the rate per mile.
For any distance within and not exceeding 1 mile, one or two persons 0 2 6 0 2 0
Beyond 1 mile from Town Belt per mile 0 3 0 0 2 6

Any person calling or sending for any Hackney Carriage and not further employing the same shall pay (or at the option of the Driver)

Half Fare to be allowed as back Fare whenever the distance exceeds 2 miles from the boundary of the City but no back Fare to be charged within the limits of the City.

FARES FOR DETENTION.

For every 15 minutes complete detention

An additional charge of one-half the above Fares to be made between the hours of 10 o'clock at night and 6 o'clock in the morning.

No extra charge to be made for luggage not exceeding 14 lbs. weight for each person carried.
