CITY OF CHRISTCHURCH.

HACKNEY CARRIAGE DRIVER’S OR CONDUCTOR’S LICENCE.

This Licence to be delivered to and retained by the Owner of the Carriage during such time as the Driver or Conductor shall be employed by him and

The Duplicate Licence to be kept by the Driver or Conductor and produced when required to any person hiring or using the Carriage to the Inspector of Hackney Carriages and to any Police Constable.

City of Christchurch to wit:

Whereas ____ of ____ has made a Requisition as the ____ of a Hackney Carriage licensed to ply for hire within the City of Christchurch and its vicinity pursuant to provision of By-law No. 2 of the Council of the said City intituled “A By-law for Licensing and Regulating Hackney Carriages and the Owners Drivers and Conductors thereof plying for hire within the said City of Christchurch and within the distance of eight miles from the corporate limits thereof” and whereas the issue of the said Licence has been duly authorised by the said Council now therefore I the Town Clerk of the said City in the name and on the behalf of the said Council do hereby license you the said ____ to act as ____ of any Hackney Carriage plying for hire within the said City of Christchurch and within the distance of eight miles from the corporate limits thereof under and subject to the provisions of the said By-law No. 2 and to such other Orders Rules Regulations and By-laws as may from time to time be in force until the Thirty-first day of December One thousand eight hundred and ____ and no longer.

Given under my hand at the Offices of the City Council this ____ day of ____ 18__

Note.—In case of any Owner acting as a Driver of his own vehicle meeting with an accident he will be allowed to employ a competent Driver for a period not exceeding twenty-four hours who may not have received a Licence. Notice of the same to be given during the day to the Town Clerk.
