PROCLAMATION,
Under “The Vaccination Act, 1863.”
I, SAMUEL BEALEY, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, do hereby, in compliance with the provisions of “The Vaccination Act, 1863,” proclaim the following districts, in the Province of Canterbury, to be Vaccination Districts under the said Act; viz. —
The Christchurch Vaccination District,
Comprising, for the purposes of the said Act, the Electoral Districts of Christchurch, Heathcote, and Avon.
The Lyttelton Vaccination District,
Comprising, for the purposes of the said Act, the Electoral Districts of Lyttelton and Port Victoria.
The Rangiora Vaccination District,
Comprising, for the purposes of the said Act, all that area, commencing on the south bank of the River Ashley, where crossed by the North Road, following along the road southerly to its junction with the Rangiora Road, near Woodend; thence south-westerly in a direct line to Trigonometrical Station M 17; thence westerly in a direct line through Trigonometrical Station M 40, till it meets a north and south line through Trigonometrical Station C 29; thence northerly along the said line to the southern bank of the Ashley, and thence easterly along the southern bank of the Ashley, to the commencing point.
The Oxford Vaccination District,
Comprising, for the purposes of the said Act, all that area, bounded on the northward by the southern bank of the Ashley, on the eastward by a north and south line through Trigonometrical Station C 29, and on the southward by the southern bank of the Waimakariri.
The Kaiapoi Vaccination District,
Comprising, for the purposes of the said Act, all that area, bounded on the northward and westward by the Rangiora and Oxford Districts, on the eastward by the sea, and on the southward by the Christchurch District (southern bank of Waimakariri).
The Mount Grey Vaccination District,
Comprising, for the purposes of the said Act, all that area, bounded on the northward by the southern bank of the Hurunui, on the eastward the sea, and on the southward the southern bank of the Ashley.
The Timaru Vaccination District,
Comprising, for the purposes of the said Act, the Electoral Districts of Timaru and Geraldine.
The Akaroa Vaccination District,
Comprising, for the purposes of the said Act, the Electoral Districts of Akaroa and The Bays.
And I do hereby appoint the under-mentioned persons, being duly qualified Medical Practitioners, to be Medical Officers under the said Act for the several Vaccination Districts set opposite their names; viz.—
The Surgeon for the time being to the Christchurch Hospital ... Christchurch Vaccination District.
J. T. Rouse, Esq. ... Christchurch Vaccination District.
Wm. Borrodale Tuke, Esq. ... Lyttelton Vaccination District.
Chas. Dudley, Esq., M.D. ... Rangiora and Oxford Vaccination Districts.
Mathew Morris, Esq. ... Kaiapoi Vaccination District.
Edward Butler, Esq. ... Mount Grey Vaccination District.
Daniel Watkins, Esq. ... Timaru Vaccination District.
Akaroa Vaccination District.
Given under my hand, at Christchurch, this Eighth day of March, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-four.
