PROCLAMATION.

Provincial Secretary’s Office,
Christchurch, Sept. 10, 1864.

I SAMUEL BEALEY, Superintendent
I of the Province of Canterbury, in pursuance of a recommendation of the Provincial Council to that effect, do hereby proclaim and declare the district hereinafter defined to be an agricultural district within the provisions of “The Trespass of Cattle Ordinance, Session XIV, No. 1:”—

Bounded on the south by the northern
bank of the River Ashley, from the sea to its junction with the Okuku;
on the south-west by the eastern
bank of the Okuku to its junction
with the Grey, thence by the Grey
to where it issues from the bush,
thence by a straight line to the summit of Mount Grey, thence by a straight line to the confluence of
Bowley’s Creek with the River
Waipara; on the north and north-east by the southern bank of the
River Waipara to the sea; and on
the east by the sea to the mouth of the River Ashley before mentioned.

Given under my hand, at Christchurch,
this Ninth day of September, One
thousand eight hundred and sixty-four.

HIS Honor the Superintendent, in accordance with Clause 3 of “The Municipal Council Ordinance, Sess. XIV, No. 2,”
directs the publication of the following Petition, which he has received from the inhabitants of Kaiapoi.

PETITION to His Honor the Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury.

We, the undersigned, householders of the
Town of Kaiapoi, pray that your Honor may declare the Town of Kaiapoi a Municipal District, under “The Municipal Council Ordinance, Session XIV, No. 2.”

And your Petitioners will ever pray, &c.
