HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it
to be notified that the following Re-
serves, made by him temporarily under the
19th clause of the Waste Land Regulations,
have been confirmed by the Provincial
Council; viz.:—
No. 286, in red.—Fifty acres, more or
less, situate at the Gorge of the
Waipara River—for the purposes of a
Government dépôt.
No. 297, in red.—Reserve for a line of
tramway, one chain wide, branching
from the Little River tramway at a
point on the Taitapu, near Trig.
station 2 L; passing along the
northern shore of Lake Ellesmere,
between the high and low water
mark, to a point near Trig. station
E 11; thence following a line passing
by the south-western corner of
section No. 6486, to the Railway
station on the north bank of the
Rakaia, subject to sections 6371,
5787, and 6078.
Also a branch of the same, com-
mencing at a point on the first de-
scribed line, the same being the
south-eastern side of Beetham’s-road,
and running south-east to the deep-
water landing place at Birdling’s
Creek.
No. 298, in red.—Four acres, being a
rectangular block of land, having
frontage of five chains, to the south-
eastern boulevard of the town of
Ashburton, and extending back
north-westerly in a rectangular block
a distance of ten chains, between
Kermode-street and Dobson-street;
subject nevertheless to the road one
chain wide, leading to the mouth of
the River Ashburton, passing through
this reserve, for which road, allowance is made in the acreage—for a
cemetery.
No. 299, in red.—One acre, two roods,
twenty-six perches, bounded on the
north-east by Dobson-street, on the
south-east by West-street, and on
the westward by the high bank of
the River Ashburton—for railway
purposes.
No. 300, in red.—Seven acres, three roods,
fourteen perches, bounded on the
north-west by East-street, on the
north-east by South-street, on the
eastward by another street, and on
the south-east by the high bank of
the River Ashburton—for railway
purposes.
No. 301, in red.—One acre, bounded on
the north-east by South-street, on
the westward by the street separating this Reserve from Reserve
No. 300, and on the south-east by
Cass-street—for purposes of the Pro-
vincial Government.
No. 302, in red.—A tract of land for a
line of tramway, one chain wide, com-
mencing at a point on the reserve
for a tramway, No. 297, in red, on
the northern shore of Lake Ellesmere
at L 1 Creek; thence following a line
in a north-westerly direction to the
south-eastern corner of section
No. 3226; thence following a line
to the junction of Maddison’s-road
with the road to the Selwyn, and
from thence joining the South Rail-
way, at the north-western corner of
section 5717, with a branch also ad-
joining the said railway at a point
about ninety chains, south-west of
the north-western corner of the
before-mentioned section No. 5717,
subject to section 6638—for a tram-
way.
No. 303, in red.—A tract of land, one
chain wide, commencing at a point
on the South Railway where it is
crossed by the Selwyn and Bealey’s-
road; thence following a line, in a
south-easterly direction, to the junc-
tion of Cryer’s-road and the Tau-
mutu and Bridge’s-road, with Fere-
day’s-road; a branch from this re-
serve joins the tramway reserve,
No. 297, in red, at a point, being about
175 chains west of Trig. station E 14
—for a tramway.
No. 304, in red.—Thirty acres, situate in
the Ellesmere District, commencing
at a point on the north-west side of
the road passing through section
No. 5787, the same being fifteen
chains north-east of the north-eastern
corner of section No. 6073; following
along that road, in a north-easterly
direction, a distance of fifteen chains,
and extending back north-westerly a
distance of twenty chains, in a rect-
angular block—for a gravel-pit.
