PROCLAMATION.

Under “The Diseased Cattle Act, 1861.”

By His Honor John Perry Robinson, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, in the Islands of New Zealand, &c., &c., &c.

WHEREAS, by a Proclamation dated the Twelfth day of December, 1861, I, John Perry Robinson, Superintendent of Nelson, did declare and proclaim that the Colonies of Australia, that is to say, the Colony of Victoria, of New South Wales, of Queensland, of South Australia, and of Western Australia, as well as the Colony of Tasmania, and the Colony of the Cape of Good Hope, should be deemed to be, for the purposes of the “Diseased Cattle Act, 1861,” infected districts, and whereas it is expedient to remove the prohibition imposed by the said Proclamation, so far as regards the Colonies and places hereinafter named: Now therefore, I, John Perry Robinson, by virtue of the powers vested in me by a Warrant of the Governor, issued under the provisions of the said Act, do hereby revoke the said Proclamation, in so far as the same relates to the Colonies of South Australia and Tasmania, and the District of Twofold Bay in the Colony of New South Wales, and I do hereby declare that the said Colonies and District shall not, from the date hereof, until further notice, be deemed infected Districts for the purposes of the said Act, and that, subject to the regulations hereunto annexed and to any regulations that may from time to time be in force in that behalf, cattle may be imported into the Province of Nelson from the said Colonies and District.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province, at Nelson, this Eleventh day of August, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty three.

RETURNING OFFICER APPOINTED.

WARRANT APPOINTING POLLING PLACES.

By His Excellency Sir George Grey, Knight, Commander of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c.

To all to whom these Presents shall come,
Greeting.

WHEREAS, by an Act of the General Assembly, entitled “The Regulation of Elections Act, 1858,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor, by warrant under his hand, from time to time to appoint Polling Places for each electoral district, within or without the limits thereof, and to appoint any one of such places to be the principal polling place for the district, and all or any of such polling places at any time to abolish, and to appoint other polling places in lieu thereof: And whereas, by another Act of the General Assembly, entitled “The Provincial Elections Act, 1858,” it is enacted that, subject to certain provisions therein contained, every election of the Superintendent or of a Member of the Provincial Council of a Province shall be conducted in the manner prescribed by “The Regulation of Elections Act, 1858,” aforesaid, and all the provisions of the said last-mentioned Act shall apply to the elections of Superintendents and Members of Provincial Councils:

Now know ye that I, Sir George Grey, the Governor of the said colony, in pursuance of the power and authority in me vested by the said Acts, do hereby appoint the following places to be additional polling places for the districts hereinafter specified, for the election of Superintendents and Members of Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury, namely:

Mount Cook District.
Mr. PARKINSON’S Wool-shed.
Mr. CLOWES’ Wool-shed.

And I do further appoint the polling place hereinafter specified to be the principal polling place for such district, namely:

Mr. PARKINSON’S Wool-shed.

Given under my hand, at the Government House, at Auckland, this twentieth day of August, in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and sixty-three.
