PROCLAMATION.

I, SAMUEL BEALEY, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby constitute the undermentioned districts, as they are severally defined in the Schedule to the “Provincial Council Extension Ordinance, Session XVII., No. 4,” as districts for the purpose of regulating the Slaughtering of Cattle, viz:—

The Rangiora District.
The Sefton District.
The Oxford District.
The Town of Kaiapoi District.
The Mandeville District.
The City of Christchurch District.
The Avon District.
The Town of Lyttelton District.
The Heathcote District.
The Lincoln District.
The Port Victoria District.
The Town of Akaroa District.
The Waimui District.
The Bays District.
The Rakaia District.
The Ashburton District.
The Geraldine District.
The Town of Timaru District.
The Waitangi District.
The Mount Cook District.

After the Seventeenth day of August next, no person shall keep a slaughter-house or place for the purpose of slaughtering cattle intended for sale, barter, shipping, or exportation, within any such district, except such house or place be duly licensed for that purpose in manner provided by an Ordinance of the Governor and Legislative Council of New Zealand, Session VIII., No. V.

There shall be levied, collected, and received from every party who shall bring any cattle to be slaughtered at any public slaughter-house or place for slaughtering cattle, to the person having the charge of such house or place, or to whom the same belong, fees according to the scale following, viz:—

For every calf not exceeding one year old, and for every sheep, boar, sow, pig, and goat. ... One shilling.

For every bull, cow, or heifer, steer, and other head of cattle. ... Two shillings.

Given under my hand at Christchurch, this First day of August, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three.
