NOTICE is hereby given that

Mr. William PALFREY,
of Mount Pleasant, Lyttelton, having been appointed by his Honor the Superintendent a Provisional Inspector of Sheep within the meaning of the Ordinances in force within the Province for the inspection of sheep, will be ready to inspect sheep introduced by sea whenever the Inspector of Sheep may not be at hand.

TENDERS FOR FUEL.

THE Provincial Government are prepared to receive Tenders for supplying Firewood, in cords, to be delivered at the several Government Offices in Christchurch, and the Hospital, to the amount of fifty cords; the wood to be of black pine or manuka, and to be delivered in the stack.

Sealed Tenders to be sent in to the Provincial Secretary’s Office, marked “Tenders for Fuel,” not later than the 17th of March next.

The lowest or any Tender will not necessarily be accepted.

NOTICE.—HURUNUI SHEEP YARD.

Provincial Secretary’s Office,
21st February, 1862.

THE Provincial Government are prepared to receive Tenders for the erection of a Sheep Yard on the Northern bank of the Hurunui, opposite Hasties’ Accommodation House.

The yard to be capable of holding not less than 500 sheep, and to contain one small yard for drafting.

Parties tendering must forward a plan of the yard, together with a specification of the material with which they propose to erect it, and an estimate of cost.

The Government will not necessarily accept any tender.

Tenders to be sent in to the Provincial Secretary’s Office, addressed to the Inspector of Sheep, on or before Monday, the 31st day of March, 1862.

Provincial Secretary’s Office,

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has appointed Messrs. WARD & REEVES to be the Official Printers for the Provincial Government of Canterbury, within the meaning of the 7th Clause of the “Official Documents Act, 1860.”

This appointment bears date the 1st day of January, 1862.

Provincial Secretary’s Office,

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that, with the advice of the Executive Council, he has appointed, in pursuance of Clause 8 of the Municipal Council Ordinance, the Resident Magistrate at Christchurch to preside as Chairman at a Public Meeting of the Householders and others of the Municipal District of Christchurch, convened to assemble in the Town Hall, Christchurch, on Thursday evening, the 27th February, 1862, at the hour of Seven o’clock, in accordance with the notice in the ‘Provincial Government Gazette’ of the 20th and 25th instants.

Provincial Secretary’s Office,
Christchurch, 22nd February, 1862.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs the following notification to be published for general information:—

I, William Sefton Moorhouse, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the 43rd clause of the Waste Lands Regulations now in force within the said Province, do hereby reserve from sale until the 30th September next ensuing, the several portions of land hereinafter described, that is to say:—

One hundred and ten acres in the Mandeville District, having frontage to and being bounded on the North-west by a road north-west of Section 3064; on the South-west by said Section; on the North-east by Section 1225, and a line parallel to the South-west boundary; and on the South-east by a line parallel to the North-western boundary, so as to include the above quantity.

Forty acres in the Mandeville District, bounded on the North by Pre-emptive Right, No. 53; on the South-east by Sections Nos. 3129, 3141, 3142, 3143, 3144, and 3169; on the South-west by Section 3919 (32 acres); and on the North-west by a line parallel to the South-western boundary, so as to include the above quantity.

The whole of such land, or such part thereof as the Waste Lands Board shall adjudge, to be granted to Henry Barnes GRESSON and John RAVEN, by way of payment for work done in accordance with a contract approved by me the 18th day of February instant, for the cutting of main drain through the swamp between Raven’s Creek and the River Ashley.
