the Provinces of Otago and Southland, in
the Colony of New Zealand, shall be deemed
to be infected districts within the meaning
of the said Act, and that no cattle shall be
imported from the said Provinces, either by
land or sea.

That the following persons shall be
appointed Inspectors, under the second
section of the said Act :Henry Scott M’Kellar,
Herbert Belfield,
Thomas Williamson Hall,
Michael Studholme,
Harry Parker,
George Babbington Parker,
Philip Baker Bonlton,
Robert Greaves.
That every Inspector so appointed shall
produce, on demand, to any person requiring
the same, a copy of the Act, and all regulations appertaining thereto.

REGULATIONS
Under which Licenses will be issued to Cut
Timber in the Maori Bush at Kaiapoi.

No part of a section of bush to be sold
until it has been sub-divided among the
several native owners to whom it was allotted
by Mr. Buller. Any dispute with respect
to this sub-division to be decided by the
voice of the majority of those owners, subject
to an appeal to the Runanga. -
Native owners under 18 years of age
will not be allowed to sell their bush. -
A guardian shall not under any circumstances be allowed to sell a piece of bush
allotted to his ward. -
No piece of bush belonging to a non-resident native may be sold without his
written consent. -
The person applying for a license must
be a person of good character, to be approved
of by the Resident Magistrate. -
The price agreed to be paid to the
native owner must be a fair and sufficient
one. -
No European, whether licensed or not,
may reside on the Maori Reserve. -
Licensees desirous of employing other
Europeans to cut timber for them, must send
in the names of such persons to the Sub-Inspector of Police at Kaiapoi. -
The timber to be all cleared away within
two years from the date of the license. -
A license to be immediately forfeited
if the holder thereof, or any person employed
by him, shall be found to have given or
supplied spirits to any natives, or to have
been guilty of any other misconduct which
may cause serious trouble with the natives.
PUBLIC NOTICE.
NOTICE is hereby given to the holders
of Pasturage License in the Upper
Ashley district, Nos. 21, 169, 170, 235, 219,
271, 66, 73, 75, 127, 145, 191, 232, 234,
283, 284, 303, 309, 310, 323, 336, 337, 346,
434, 438, 439, and 443, that the country has
been surveyed, and the Commissioners of
the Waste Lands Board will proceed to adjust
the boundaries of these runs on Thursday,
the 8th January, 1863, at noon, when
all parties interested are required to attend.

information, that in pursuance of the powers
vested in him by Clause 19 of the Waste
Lands Regulations now in force within the
Province of Canterbury, he has made the
following Reserves of Land for public purposes
temporarily until the next Session of
the Provincial Council :
No. 263 (in red), 6 acres, 3 roods, and 8
perches in the Christchurch District,
being bounded on the northeastward
by section No. 3729, on the southeastward
by road by trigonometrical
station C 28, on the northwestward
by section 4252, and on the southwestward
by section 2704.
No. 264 (in red), 640 acres, having one
mile frontage on the South Railway
reserve, between 44th and 45th mile,
and extending back southeasterly in
a rectangular block one mile, subject
to the reserve line of the South Road.
