requiring the same, a copy of the Act, and
all regulations appertaining thereto.
Given under my hand, at Christchurch,
this Twenty-third day of October
One Thousand Eight Hundred and
Sixty-two.
W. S. MOORHOUSE,
Superintendent.
By His Honor’s command,
THOS. WM. MAUDE,
Provincial Secretary.
IMMIGRATION COMMISSION.
“Queen of the Mersey.”
THE Commissioners visited the “Queen
of the Mersey” and were well satisfied
with the arrangements and appearance of
the immigrants.
Measles and hooping cough had prevailed
on the passage, but no recent cases were
reported.
Early on the voyage, the matron being
found unfit for her position, the master
appointed one of the married women to
supply her place. The Commissioners re-
commend the latter for the full allowance
given to matrons, as she appears to have
performed her duties with great care and
judgment.
The Commissioners again recommend that
the female hospital in immigrant vessels
carrying so many passengers be of much
larger size.
