that he has accepted the Tender of E. W.
Morey, for Building a Culvert in Winchester
street, Lyttelton, at a sum of £25 10s.

TENDERS will be received at the Office
of the Provincial Secretary, Christ-
church, until Saturday, the 28th instant, at
noon, for the supply of the undermentioned
articles, in quantities as they may be required
from time to time, at the Barracks and Gaol,
at Christchurch, for the year ending 31st
May, 1862:—

IMMIGRATION BARRACKS.
Meat ... ... ... @ lb.
Bread ... ... ... ... "
Potatoes ... ... ... ... "
Tea, ½ oz. ... } ... ... "

The above articles to be of the best
quality of their respective kinds, and a fair
proportion of the meat to be of the better
joints.

CHRISTCHURCH GAOL.
No. 1—2lbs. bread, ½ oz. soap
2—1lb. bread, 1lb. potatoes, ½lb. meat, 6
ozs. oatmeal, ½ oz. soap
3—1lb. bread, ½lb. potatoes, ½lb. meat, 6
ozs. oatmeal, ½ oz. salt, ½ oz. soap
4—1lb. bread, 1lb. potatoes, 1lb. meat, 6
ozs. oatmeal, ½ oz. salt, ½ oz. soap
Each ration to be tendered for separately,
viz:—

Other articles, when specially ordered, to
be supplied by the contractor at current
prices.
It is the wish of the Government for the
sake of convenience, a contract with one
person for the supply of all the articles
enumerated in the above lists.

The Government will not be bound to
accept of the lowest or any tender.
Tenders to be sealed and endorsed, "Ten-
der for Immigration and Gaol Rations."
A bond, to the amount of £20, as a per-
sonal guarantee for the efficient performance
of the contract, will be required.

application to Mr. Seager.

ELECTION NOTICE.
ELECTORAL DISTRICT OF ASHLEY.

IN pursuance of the provisions of an Act
of the General Assembly of New Zea-
land, intituled "The Regulation of Elections
Act, 1858," and of another Act of the Gene-
ral Assembly of New Zealand, intituled
"The Provincial Elections Act, 1858," I,
Henry Godfrey Gouland, Returning Officer
for the Electoral District of Ashley, do
hereby give notice, that by virtue of a Writ
bearing date the Thirtieth day of April, 1861,
issued under the hand of his Honor the
Superintendent of the Province of Canter-
bury, an election will be held for the return
of a qualified person to serve as a member
of the Provincial Council, for the said Elec-
toral District; and that the nomination of
Candidates will take place at Mr. Torlesse's
House, Fernside, Miraki Downs, on Saturday,
the Eighteenth day of May, 1861, at noon;
and that the Poll (if necessary) will be taken
on Monday, the Twentieth day of May,
1861.

  • DECLARATION.—I, Peter Donald Watt, of Melbourne, do hereby solemnly declare that the sheep on board of the
    vessel Omeo, John McLean, commander, now lying at Lyttelton, in the said province, have not within three months
    last past been subject to any dressing for the cure of the scab, nor been mixed with any sheep infected with scab or
    catarrh, and I make this solemn declaration, conscientiously believing the same to be true.
    Declared before me at Lyttelton, this 21st day of April, 1861. JAMES RULE, Inspector.
