It is hereby notified that a writ, issued for the election of a Member to serve in the House of Representatives, for the Christchurch Country District, has been returned, with an endorsement, to the effect that
ISAAC THOMAS COOKSON,
of Heathcote Valley, has been duly elected.

PROCLAMATION.
WILLIAM SEFTON MOORHOUSE,
Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, do hereby in pursuance of the powers vested in me in that behalf, by the regulations for the sale, letting, and occupation of the Waste Lands of the Crown, proclaim and declare that the lands hereinafter described shall be reserved until the next session of the Provincial Council, that is to say:
Five acres, more or less, situate at Peel Forest, being bounded on the north-east by the high bank of the river Rangitata, a distance of 4 chains 50 links, and back south-westerly a distance of 11 chains, adjoining section 823, and numbered 165 (in red) on the map of the Chief Surveyor of the Province of Canterbury, setting out and describing the rural land in and about the Peel Forest, to be reserved for the preservation of the timber thereon, for the use of the ferry and accommodation house on the south bank of the Rangitata.
