PUBLIC NOTICE.

Christchurch, 27 June, 1859.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified for general information that a Writ for the Election of a Member of the Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury, for the Timaru District, having been issued in accordance with Clause 12 of an Act of Parliament passed in the 15th and 16th years of the reign of Her present Majesty, entitled “An Act to grant a Representative Constitution to the Colony of New Zealand,” the Returning Officer for the said District has returned the said Writ with a Certificate to the effect that the undermentioned gentleman has been duly elected to serve as a Member of the Provincial Council for the Timaru District:— GEORGE DUNCAN LOCKHART.

SALE OF TOWN AND RURAL LANDS.

NOTICE is hereby given that the sections of land specified below will be submitted to public auction at the sitting of the Waste Lands Board, to be held at the Land Office, Christchurch, on MONDAY, the Fourth day of JULY, 1859, at the hour of noon, subject to the usual conditions as of sale, and in conformity with the regulations for the disposal, sale, letting, and occupation of the Waste Lands of the Crown now in force within the Province of Canterbury.

HIS HONOR the SUPERINTENDENT directs it to be notified for public information that in pursuance of the powers vested in him by the Waste Lands Regulations, now in force within the Province of Canterbury, he has made the following reserve of land temporarily until the next Session of the Provincial Council:—

Two hundred acres, more or less, situate on Latter’s Spur Road, commencing about 55 chains in a direct line from the summit of the hill on the Northern side, extending down the road about 51 chains, and back Easterly about 40 chains on the average, and numbered 161 in red; to be reserved for the use of the Provincial Government and other public purposes.
