Proclamation.
I, WILLIAM SEFTON MOORHOUSE, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, in exercise of the powers vested in me in that behalf, do hereby this day prorogue the Provincial Council of the said Province, and the said Provincial Council is hereby prorogued accordingly.
Given under my hand at Christchurch this third day of December, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-eight.

Of His Honor the Superintendent on proroguing the Provincial Council, December 3, 1858.
MR. SPEAKER AND GENTLEMEN OF THE PROVINCIAL COUNCIL :—
I have assented on behalf of His Excellency the Governor to the following Bills :—
The Canterbury Police Ordinance.
The Immigration Barracks Ordinance.
The Planting Forest Trees Ordinance.
The Cattle Trespass Amendment Ordinance.
The Cathedral Square Ordinance.
The Public Hospital Ordinance.
The Appropriation Ordinance.
The Christ's College Amendment Ordinance.
The Sheep Ordinance.
I have reserved for His Excellency's assent,
The Scab Prevention Ordinance.
GENTLEMEN—
The labours of the Session having come to an end, I have to thank you for the very earnest and business-like manner in which you have discussed the several proposals it has been my duty to lay before you. The public must, in common with myself, feel perfectly satisfied that the affairs of the province have been closely investigated.
