HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has appointed
MR. JAMES PURVIS
to be Draughtsman in the Survey office at Christchurch. The appointment to bear date from the 27th of March last.

HIS HONOR THE SUPERINTENDENT directs the following notification to be published for general information:—

I, James Edward Fitz Gerald, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, in virtue of the powers vested in me by the 43rd clause of the Waste Lands\' Regulations now in force within the said Province, do hereby reserve from sale until the 31st day of July next ensuing, the portion of land hereinafter described, that is to say,
Fifty Acres, more or less, situated at Pigeon Bay, Banks\' Peninsula, commencing at a point on the Pigeon Bay and Akaroa Road, one chain south of section No. 509, following a line parallel to the Southern boundary of the said section No. 509, a distance of 14 chains, 30 links : thence at a right angle southerly, a distance of 40 chains, thence at a right angle easterly, a distance of 3 chains and 60 links to a reserved Road, and thence following the said reserved road, and the Pigeon Bay and Akaroa Road to the commencing point.
The whole of such land, or such part thereof as the Waste Lands\' Board shall adjudge, to be granted to William Crouch and Samuel Thompson by way of payment for work done in accordance with a contract this day approved by me for the construction of the road from Mr. Knowles\' house to Crouch\'s house in Pigeon Bay.
