NOTICE.
New Zealand to Wit: Province of Canterbury.
WHEREAS a Writ, under the hand of Thomas Gore Browne, Esquire, Companion of the most honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over the Islands of New Zealand, &c., &c., bearing date the Seventeenth day of September, in the Year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-six, hath been directed to me, Charles Christopher Bowen, Esquire, as Returning-Officer for the Town of Christchurch, requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected, by and from amongst the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently and in manner and form by law prescribed, One Person to serve as a member of the House of Representatives, for the said Town of Christchurch, in the Room of Henry Sewell, Esquire, resigned:
Now therefore I, the said Charles Christopher Bowen, Esquire, Returning Officer for the said Town of Christchurch, do hereby, in pursuance of the said recited writ, give notice that a public meeting of the Electors of the said Town of Christchurch will be holden at the Offices of the Provincial Government, in the said Town of Christchurch, on Tuesday, the eighteenth day of November next, at noon, for the purpose of nominating One Person to serve as a member of the House of Representatives, for the said Town of Christchurch; and in the event of a poll being demanded for the candidates or any of them, such polling shall take place on Wednesday, the 19th day of November next, in the lobby of the Provincial Council Chamber, at Christchurch: the voting to commence at any time after nine o’clock a.m. of the said day, and to close at four o’clock p.m., of the same day.

NOTICE is hereby given that a special meeting of the Waste Lands Board will be held at the Land Office, Christchurch, on Tuesday next the 14th inst., at 12 o’clock, at noon, to hear a case of disputed title.
