Christchurch, May 30, 1856.

ALL Persons are hereby cautioned against encroaching upon the unsold portion of the Town Reserves, either by making banks or digging ditches thereon, as persons so offending will be proceeded against according to law.

HIS HONOR THE SUPERINTENDENT directs it to be notified for public information that he has appointed the following Gentlemen to be Returning Officers under the Roads Ordinance, Sess. VI, No. 2, for the undermentioned Districts :

For the Town of Lyttelton District,
Mr. Isaac Thomas Cookson.

For the Town of Christchurch District,
Mr. William Wilson.

For the Papanui District,
Mr. William Thomson.

For the Port Victoria District,
Mr. W. Hawkshaw Percival.

For the Avon and Heathcote District,
Mr. J. Brittan.

For the Riccarton District,
Mr. Robert Harrison.

For the Lincoln District,
Mr. Robert Rickman.

For the Middle Pastoral District,
Mr. G. A. E. Ross.

For the South Pastoral District,
Mr. Robert Heaton Rhodes.
