PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS, I, JAMES EDWARD FITZ GERALD, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, did on the tenth day of July last past prorogue the Provincial Council of the said Province till the eighteenth day of September inst.; and the said Provincial Council did stand prorogued accordingly:—And whereas it is expedient that the said Provincial Council should be further prorogued:—NOW, therefore I, James Edward Fitz Gerald, in pursuance of the powers vested in me in that behalf, do hereby further Prorogue the said Provincial Council until Tuesday the ninth day of October next; and I do accordingly hereby summon the said Provincial Council to meet for the dispatch of business in the Council Chamber at Christchurch, on Tuesday the ninth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and fifty five, at the hour of four o’clock in the afternoon.

Given under my hand and issued under the Public Seal of the Province, this tenth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-five.

PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Governor and Legislative Council of New Zealand, entitled "The Land Registration Ordinance," Session II, No. 9, it is enacted that there shall be established in every County or district, as the case may be within the Colony, an office which shall be called the Register Office for registering in manner thereinafter directed, the Deeds, Wills, and Memorials thereby authorised to be registered:—AND WHEREAS it is thereby further enacted that the said Ordinance shall come into operation within any County or District at such time as His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, shall by Proclamation appoint:—AND WHEREAS, by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury entitled "the Empowering Ordinance, Session II, No.2," it is enacted that the powers conferred on the Governor of New Zealand by the above mentioned Ordinance shall, within the limits of the Province of Canterbury be conferred on the Superintendent thereof:—AND WHEREAS the late Governor of the Province of New Munster did by a Proclamation issued at Wellington on the 30th day of October, 1852, appoint that the said first recited Ordinance should come into operation within the District of Canterbury, within the limits described in
