PUBLIC NOTICE.
Provincial Secretary’s Office,
Christchurch, 1st August, 1855.
HIS HONOR THE SUPERINTENDENT directs it to be notified for public information, that a case of intoxication having been reported to the government as having occurred in the house commonly called the “Ashley Arms” kept by George Hanmer, and the License to sell Spirits in the said house having thereby become forfeited, by a violation of the conditions under which Bush Licenses are granted;—the said License is hereby cancelled from and after the fourth day of August instant.

provisionally until Her Majesty’s pleasure be known to be a Resident Magistrate for Lyttelton and Christchurch. The appointment to bear date from the 20th instant.
Henry John Tancred, Esq.,
to be the Keeper of the Public Records,
vice C. A. Calvert, Esq., resigned. The appointment to bear date this day.
The Revd. Robert Bateman Paul, M.A.,
to be an Inspector of Schools for the Province of Canterbury, under the provisions of the Education Ordinance, Session VIII., No. 10. The appointment to bear date the 6th instant.
