Please send two thousand and ninety pounds, for educational purposes, by the fifteenth.

No money received to pay school teachers, payable this day.

Claim for education is under consideration of Commissioners of Audit. Will probably pass to-morrow.

About one hundred and seventy school teachers waiting for their salaries—don’t know what to do with them. Is the money granted?

To the Honourable the Premier,
Wellington.

In telegram from the Colonial Treasurer of the 18th instant, we are told that the question of the sum of £2,090, required on the 15th instant for educational purposes, such as payment of teachers’ salaries (£1,550), rents of schools, etc., would be brought before the Cabinet yesterday.

As an engagement was entered into by the General Government to pay these amounts, and the non-payment of them is inflicting serious injury on innocent and deserving persons, I earnestly pray that I may be at once informed what the General Government intend to do in this matter.
