PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

By His Honour Sir George Grey, Knight Commander of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

UNDER and in pursuance of the powers in me vested by the seventh section of “The Highways Act, 1874,” I do hereby notify that, from and after the date hereof, all that portion of the Province of Auckland hereunder described, shall be a District under the said Act, and that such District shall be known by the name of

THE TOWN OF MERCER HIGHWAY DISTRICT :

Bounded towards the north-east by the centre of the Great South Road from the Maungatawhiri river to its junction with the Pukorokoro road, and by the centre of the last-named road to a point on the same, being the termination of a right line produced at right angles to the northern boundary of allotment No. 59 of the Parish of Koheroa, thence by the said right line to the northern boundary of allotment No. 59 of the Parish of Koheroa aforesaid, thence by part of the northern boundary of allotment No. 59, of the Parish last-named to its north-eastern angle, thence by a right line to the north-western angle of allotment No. 91 of the Parish of Koheroa aforesaid, thence by the north-eastern boundary of allotment No. 91 last named, and by the said north-eastern boundary produced to the centre of the Maramarua river ; towards the east by the centre of the Maramarua river aforesaid to its confluence with the Whangamarino river, and thence by the centre of the Whangamarino river aforesaid in a south-easterly direction to the eastern termination of a right line bearing due east from the summit of Meremere hill ; towards the south by the right line aforesaid bearing due west to the summit of the Meremere hill aforesaid, and by said right line produced to the eastern bank of the Waikato river ; towards the south-west by the eastern bank of the Waikato river aforesaid to the mouth of the Maungatawhiri river ; and towards the west by the centre of the Maungatawhiri river aforesaid to the Great South Road first-mentioned commencement.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

By His Honour Sir George Grey, Knight Commander of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

IN pursuance of the fifteenth Section of “The Highways Act, 1874,” I do hereby bring the said Act into operation within the TOWN OF MERCER HIGHWAY DISTRICT; and I do hereby appoint the first meeting of Ratepayers to take place at the Point Russell Hotel, Mercer, on Monday, the 3rd day of July proximo, at half-past six o’clock in the evening, and Mr. Thomas Wells to be Chairman of such meeting.
