Now therefore, His Excellency George Augustus Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, in pursuance and in exercise of the power and authority for that purpose vested in him, doth hereby order and direct that all the powers, functions, duties, and authorities vested in or required to be performed by the Governor, or the Governor in Council, by “The Lunatics Act, 1868,” within the Province of Auckland, shall be exercised by

Sir George Grey, K.C.B.,
as Superintendent of such province, so long as he shall remain Superintendent of the said province, and no longer.

Delegation under “The Public Health Act, 1872,” to Superintendent of Auckland.

Normanby, Governor.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled “The Public Health Act, 1872,” it is, among other things, enacted that the Governor may from time to time, as he thinks fit, order that all or any of the powers, functions, duties, authorities, or acts, vested in, conferred on, or authorised or required to be performed by the Governor within any province, district, port, or place in the colony, by or under the fifty-third and seventy-seventh sections of the said Act, shall be exercised, performed, or done by the Superintendent of such province, with the advice of the Executive Council of such province (if any); subject, however, to any limitations or restrictions as he may think fit:

Now therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority enabling me under the hereinbefore in part recited Act, do hereby order that all the powers, functions, duties, authorities, or acts vested in, conferred on, or authorised or required to be done by me as such Governor as aforesaid, within the Province of Auckland, under the fifty-third and seventy-seventh sections of the said Act, shall be exercised, performed, or done by

the Superintendent of the said province, as and in manner by the said Act required: Provided that this order shall only remain in force so long as the said Sir George Grey shall be and remain such Superintendent as aforesaid, or until other provision in that behalf shall be made by the Governor under the powers aforesaid.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Most Honourable George Augustus Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the County of York, in the Peerage of the United Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave of New Ross, in the County of Wexford, in the Peerage of Ireland; a Member of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council; Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; at the Government House at Wellington, this thirteenth day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-five.

Delegation under “The Prisons Act, 1873,” to Superintendent of Auckland.

WHEREAS by the fifty-first section of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled “The Prisons Act, 1873,” it is enacted that the Governor in Council may, under his hand and the Public Seal of the Colony, from time to time delegate to the Superintendent of any province the powers by the forty-seventh and fiftieth sections of the said Act vested in the Governor, to be exercised within such province and not elsewhere, and may from time to time in like manner rescind any such delegation:

Now therefore I, George Augustus Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, Governor of the said Colony, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said in part recited Act, do hereby, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, delegate unto

Sir George Grey, K.C.B.,
as Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, all the powers vested in me by the forty-seventh and fiftieth sections of the said Act, to be exercised within such province and not elsewhere so long as he shall remain Superintendent of the said province and no longer.
