30 M Hirihana (Aboriginal) 30 Phthisis pulmonalis June 6 June 9 3 There was a large clot resting in the dura mater from rupture of the middle meningeal artery. Under dura mater there was a large quantity of blood overspreading both hemispheres, even to the base. The right kidney was found lacerated, and extensive hemorrhage had taken place behind the peritoneum.
31 M Alexander Stephens 46 Liver disease April 20 June 10 50 Admitted in the last stage of phthisis pulmonalis. Admitted in an aneutric state and weak. Diarrhea set in, and he gradually sank. Liver found enlarged; weighed 6 lbs. in the nutmeg condition. Heart greatly enlarged, but free from valvular disease.
32 M James Jackson 59 Bright's disease of kidneys 1869, Aug. 13 June 15 4y. 302d. Had fistula in ano and morbus Brightii. Health gradually declined under dyspeptic ailments. Finally became comatose. Left kidney found converted into a pouch, and right enlarged, granular, with a number of small abscesses on surface. Liver large. Bladder thickened.
33 M Gilbert McLoran 45 Paralysis June 17 June 25 8 Admitted suffering from the effects of drink. Had frequent epileptic fits and was partially paralyzed on the left side. He gradually passed into a state of coma. On raising the calvarium, a large quantity of blood—liquid and coagulated—was found overspreading the right hemisphere of the brain. On the left side there was copious subarachnoid effusion. Substance of the brain was firmer than natural. Liver in the nutmeg state.
34 M William Bills 48 Phthisis pulmonalis April 11 June 30 50 Was admitted in an advanced state of phthisis pulmonalis, affecting chiefly the left lung. Diarrhea set in. Took little nourishment.
35 M William Wright 34 Injuries of head and face July 1 July 2 26 hours Admitted in a state of insensibility, the result of injuries to his head and face. There was found intense meningitis, with subarachnoid effusion and extravasation of blood in patches. Lower jaw-bone was found fractured in two places. Thoracic and abdominal viscera healthy. Inquest held.
36 F Mary McLoughlin 41 Bronchitis chronic July 7 July 7 7 hours Admitted suffering from chronic bronchitis. Was suddenly seized with vomiting of blood and died seven hours after admission. Lungs emphysematous; several patches of pulmonary apoplexy. Roots of lungs thickened. Bronchial glands indurated, calcareous. Half-a-pint of blood in stomach.
37 M Charles Gill 53 Pneumonia June 13 July 10 27 Admitted with pneumonia of right lung, which ran into gangrene. Profuse hemoptysis before death.
