In pursuance of "The Regulation of Ferries Act, 1863," the following Rules and Regulations have been made in respect of the several Public Ferries hereinafter specified.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.
Rules and Regulations for the Mangawai Public Ferry.

The following Charges or Fees, and no more, shall be taken from persons crossing the Ferry:—
From sunrise to sunset.
- For each adult passenger: 0s 6d
- For each horse or beast: 1s 0d
From sunset to sunrise.
- Double the above charges.

No charge shall be made for children going to or returning from school, or for persons employed in the conveyance of Her Majesty’s Mails.

The following Charges or Fees, and no more, shall be taken from persons crossing the Ferry:—
- To or from the Wharf and Captain Butler’s Point.
- For single passenger: 0s 6d
- Two passengers, each: 0s 6d
- Three passengers, each: 0s 4d
- Four or more passengers, each: 0s 4d
- A single horse: 0s 6d
- Two or more horses, each: 0s 3d
- To or from the Landing Place near Bruce’s:
- For a single passenger: 2s 0d
- Two passengers, each: 1s 6d
- Three passengers, each: 1s 3d
- Four or more passengers: 1s 0d
- To or from the Wharf and Captain Butler’s Point.

Across both rivers:
- For each passenger: 2s 6d
- For each horse: 0s 6d

The person in charge of the ferry shall convey passengers and horses across the ferry at any hour at which he may be called upon to do so.

From sunset to sunrise, double the above charges shall be levied.

No charge shall be made for children going to or returning from school, or for persons employed in the conveyance of Her Majesty’s Mails.

The boat shall cross to Captain Butler’s Point as soon as possible after a signal shall have been hoisted on the staff at the end of Captain Butler’s store, or to the landing-place near Mr. Bruce’s house as soon as possible after a fire shall have been lighted near the notice-board thereat erected.

Any person who shall light a fire at either place indicated for the purpose, and shall thereby cause the ferryman to cross for a passenger, shall be liable for the fare chargeable for one passenger.

- The following Charges or Fees, and no more, shall be taken from persons crossing the Ferry:—
- Between Taumatawiwi and Te Rangi Point.
- For each passenger: 1s 0d
- Between Taumatawiwi and Te Rangi Point.
