Superintendent to Honourable Secretary for Crown Lands.

TELEGRAM.

Auckland, 30th October, 1874.

To the
Honourable Secretary for Crown Lands,
Wellington.

As Mr. D. A. Tole, Commissioner of Crown Lands, is likely to be absent from the Province of Auckland for several months on business connected with the administration of the Auckland Waste Lands Act, 1874, I have to request that his duties as Crown Lands Commissioner may be authorised by the General Government to be performed by the Deputy Waste Lands Commissioner, to be appointed by me, under the provisions of the said Law, to act in his absence.

Honourable Secretary for Crown Lands to Superintendent.

TELEGRAM.

Wellington, 31st October, 1874.

To His Honour
The Superintendent,
Auckland.

I have received no application for leave of absence from the Commissioner of Crown Lands at Auckland. When such application is received it will have my immediate attention. In the meantime, I cannot enter into the appointment of a Deputy-Commissioner. No officer of the General Government can be moved without leave first obtained.

Superintendent to Honourable Colonial Secretary.

TELEGRAM.

Auckland, 12th November, 1874.

The Honourable
The Colonial Secretary,
Wellington.

It is proposed that the Superintendent of this Province should lose no time in visiting Great Britain, for the purpose of arranging with duly qualified persons, to act as agents on behalf of the Province in promoting Immigration, and in the formation of Special Settlement Associations. Mr. Dignan will be appointed to act as Deputy Superintendent, in the Superintendent’s absence. Will there be any objection on the part of the
