MANUKAU HARBOUR.

Harbour Department, Manukau,
8th December 1873.

NOTICE is hereby given that, Four Leading Marks (painted white) have recently been erected on the South Head to lead the course of the "Fanny Channel." Bearing (in line) N. E. by N., magnetic; having 2½ fathoms water in mid-channel at low spring tides.

It is also to be observed that the above mentioned leading marks are nearly in line with the signal mast and are placed about 300 yards North of the two leading Beacons for South Channel.

CITY ENDOWMENTS.

City Council Office, Auckland,
10th December 1873.

IT is hereby notified that it is the intention of the City Council on Wednesday the twenty-first day of January 1874 to offer for lease by Public Auction for a term of Fifty years, the following City Endowment allotments namely:
Allotments 2, 3, 31, 32 and 33, Sec. 31, and allotments 10, 17 and 18, section 35 City of Auckland.

WANGAREI HIGHWAY DISTRICT.

To the owner or reputed owner, lessee or reputed lessee, and occupier of lands situated at Whangarei known as Carruth’s grant.

Take Notice that the maps, specifications, and other papers relating to a road which the Whangarei District Highway Board propose to take over the above-mentioned allotment, are deposited for inspection at Mr. Wood’s Office in Whangarei, for the purpose of the said maps, specifications, and other papers to define the site, measurements, and mode of forming the said Road, and that all persons affected by the proposed Road are hereby called upon to set forth in writing addressed to the Chairman of the Whangarei Highway Board within forty days from the publication hereof in the Gazette all objections which they may have to the said Road.

Dated the 10th day of December 1873.

WAIPU NORTH HIGHWAY DISTRICT.

At a meeting of the North Highway District Board, Waipu, held this sixth day of December, 1873, it appearing that the period of forty clear days has elapsed since the specifications, maps, plans, and sections of the proposed Road, from the farms of Messrs McDonald and McKenzie, along the main branch, through lots six and sixty-nine (6, 69) to bridge on said branch, 100 links wide and 4,620 links long more or less, were deposited at the residence of the Chairman of the Board, and since, notice thereof was published in the Provincial Government Gazette, and all objections and evidence have been duly heard and it appearing expedient to the said Board to proceed with the making of the said Road, it is ordered that the said Road be made in accordance with the said specifications, maps, plans, and sections, and it is further ordered that a copy of this order together with true copies of the said specifications, maps, plans, and sections so deposited as aforesaid, be transmitted to His Honor the Superintendent, the said order being first published in the Provincial Government Gazette, and in The Herald, pursuant to the Thirty-third Section of The Highway Boards Empowering Act, 1871.

A PROCLAMATION.

JAMES FERGUSSON, Governor.

WHEREAS by The Quartz Crushing Machines Regulation and Inspection Act, 1872, it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor from time to time to make, alter, amend, add to, or abolish rules and regulations for the purposes in the third section of the said Act set forth: And whereas it is further enacted by the said Act, that all rules and regulations made thereunder shall be published in the New Zealand Gazette, and shall have force and effect over such districts of the Colony as the Proclamation bringing them into force shall specify and define, and such districts may be enlarged, diminished, altered, or abolished by subsequent proclamations, and new districts may be created in like manner: And whereas by Proclamation under my hand bearing date the 18th day of June last, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the nineteenth of June last, number forty, I did thereby make the rules and regulations set forth in the first Schedule thereto, and did proclaim and declare that the said rules and regulations should have force and effect over the respective districts specified and defined in the Second Schedule thereto: And whereas it is desirable and expedient that rule ten of the said rules and regulations should be amended as hereinafter mentioned:

Now therefore, I, the Right Honorable Sir James Fergusson, Baronet, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred on me by the said Act, do hereby amend the said rule ten of the rules and regulations aforesaid, by omitting therefrom the words "Thames Gold Mining," where the same appear in the said rule; and the said rules shall henceforth be read as if the said words had never been inserted therein.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honorable Sir James Fergusson, Baronet, a Member of Her Majesty’s Most Honorable Privy Council, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, at Christchurch; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, this sixth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.
