PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

By Thomas Bannatyne Gillies, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

Under and in pursuance of the powers and authority vested in me by the provisions of "The Marine Act, 1867," I do hereby, from and after the 1st June next, abolish the rates, dues, and charges heretofore payable for the use of the Grahamstown Goods Wharf, and do hereby impose and levy the following rates, dues, and charges for the use of the Grahamstown Goods Wharf, and for the landing of goods, wares, merchandise, and cattle thereat and thereforon, that is to be levied from and after the first day of June, proximo:

For every ton, or part of a ton (weight or measurement) of goods, wares, or merchandise, landed or shipped thereat and therefrom

  • s. d.
  • For every vehicle carrying not over two tons ... 0 3
  • For every vehicle carrying over two tons ... 0 6
  • For every head of great cattle ... 0 6
  • For every pig, sheep, or goat ... 0 1

For every person landing from or going on to the wharf (crews of vessels alongside, licensed watermen, Officers of Government, and other persons employed on the wharf excepted) whether with or without a hand barrow or truck ... 0 2

For every vessel hauling alongside the said wharf, £1 per quarter for vessels of 20 tons and under, and 6d. per ton per quarter additional for all vessels over 20 tons and under 100 tons, such payments to be made in advance, commencing the quarters on the 1st January, 1st April, 1st July, and 1st October.

For every vessel not paying quarterly, the Master shall pay for every day, or part of a day the vessel is alongside the wharf, 2s. 6d. for the first twenty tons of registered tonnage, and ¼d. per ton for each additional ton of registered tonnage. Vessels lying alongside solely for the purpose of repairs, one-half the above rates.

And I do hereby appoint that the rates, dues, and charges hereby imposed, and none other, shall be levied from and after the first day of June, proximo.

I hereby notify that the several Chairmen of the after-named District Boards, under "The Highways Act, 1871," have reported in writing to the Superintendent the names of the under-mentioned persons appointed Members of those Boards respectively, to supply vacancies:

Paparata—Charles Seymour Robinson, vice Alexander Macdonald, resigned.
